Featured Paper Blog Hop - Basics Fundamentals

Welcome to our Featured Paper Blog Hop! We will be showcasing items from our Basics Fundamentals Paper Pack with various projects created by talented Close to my Heart consultants. If you are visiting from RaNae’sblog then you are on the right track, if not please start at the CTMH Blog Challenge and Support Group Blog Hop Guidelines beginning with our hostess Carol, oh wait, that is where you are going next.

Basic Fundamentals are my FAVORITE of the Fundamental collections (that is today, it may change tomorrow depending on the project I am working on).

And this month the Basic Fundamentals are featured in our monthly special, Through The Year calendar kit! And it has been so much FUN creating the layouts, stamping and embellishing each calendar month.

Here is June, see how wonderful the Basic Fundamental Pebble stripe coordinates with all the wonderful Close To My Heart cardstock!!

And the leftovers work great to embellish the calendar page, too!!
Love, love, love the Basic Fundament…

Design Space Friday Circle Overlay

I loved a circle cutout overlay on Pinterest and thought this would be way cool to try in Design Space.

Enjoy the video!

Technique Tuesday - Alcohol Markers and Vellum

Today I am sharing several of the cards I created while learning more about alcohol markers and vellum.

Here are the three samples, each a little different. Lessons learned, cut the small circle first if you plan to create a matted look, stamp very carefully on vellum and be careful not to add to much alcohol ink.

And, always remember to add some love to the inside.

My Favorite Things Monday - Alphabet Stamps

One of my favorite things is alphabet stamps. It is like having stickers but better cause you don't end up with all those extra 'q' and 'u' stickers.

Today's project is a simple card created using the Make It From Your Heart Volume 1 recipe 22, Silver & Gold paper collection, Lagoon, Black and White Daisy cardstock, Black and White Dots, Black Ink, and Jennifer's Hand alphabet stamp set.

Here are the current Close To My Heart alphabets available!

Design Space Friday creating a Flower from an Ornament

I love vellum and am so glad Close To My Heart has brought it back and in celebration, I am sharing a technique I used a few years ago to create a vellum overlay for a flower using an ornament image.

Here are two of the cards we created in a class

And here is a little close up of the flowers. The vellum is not cut through so it looks etched. Enjoy!

Technique Tuesday Embossing Folders and Ink

My late night crafting friends, Technique Tuesday is being shared later than usual. Today I am sharing how to add ink to an embossing folder for a unique background.

Here is the card I created using the cascading snowflake embossing folder inked with Crystal Blue.

I added Charcoal, one of my favorite new Basic colors.

I used the Joyful Tidings Workshop Your Way stamp set.

A little white twine added a nice touch.

And don't forget the inside and envelope!

Design Space Friday Faux Word Bubble

I wanted to see how I could create an offset look using a multi-layer phrase and the contour and weld tools. Here is what I came up with, enjoy.

Picture My Life Cards and Zip Strip FUN

Each Close To My Heart paper collection contains two sheets of Picture My Life cards, 4" x 6" and 4" x 3", to use with your layouts or your pocket page scrapbooks. However, they work great for cards.

Add them to the zip strip designs from each pattern paper and you have the beginnings of a great card design!

And don't forget to add some FUN to the inside and envelope!!

Below is the video sharing how these cards were created.

Design Space Friday Peek A Boo Window Card

Hello and welcome to another Design Space Friday! Today we will work on peek a boo cards. Here are three different designs I have created so far (as you will hear in the video, I have already started a New Year version) --

A Beary Christmas in November

Each month I like to feature a Close To My Heart paper pack! November is the Beary Christmas collection.

And the BEST value for any paper collection is the Workshop Your Way, paper pack, extra cardstock, Complements, and two full embellishment packs. You can sweeten the value by adding the coordinating scrapbook stamp set or card making stamp set.

Here is my version of the three layouts you can create from the PDF guide available.

Here are the BONUS cards you can create with just a few added products, Cardbase and Envelope Value Pack, New England Ivy and Cranberry ink pads, and Beary Christmas Cardmaking Stamp Set with coordinating Thim Cut dies (Z4046).

See all the Beary Christmas products available HERE.

Calendars and Fundamental FUN

In preparation for our special for December, the Through the Year calendar kit, I am playing with some other ideas to create more calendars for gift ideas using the cutting and assembly directions from the calendar kit.

Here I am using two patterns of Glacier from the Whimsy Fundamentals with a little Silver Foil paper.

Do you think silver glitter snowflakes would be the perfect accent?

Using the November Stamp of the Month, Through the Year (S1711), I stamped the month and some snowflakes in Glacier ink.

I will add the numbers using Jennifer's Hand Alphabet stamp.

If you pick up the November Stamp of the Month for only $5 this month, you will have it ready for the calendar kit next month.

Grab up the Fundamental Bundles while they are on special. You get the coordinating Complements along with the ribbon pack!! All for only $22.71

Through the Year Subway Art

Are you inspired by others? Gina K videos always get my creative juices flowing. This card is designed based on one of her videos.

It starts out with the months stamped in subway style on the left and embossed with dots on the right. A white daisy card base works perfect for the New England Ivy cardstock front. A small black cardstock mat around the center piece and the circle sentiment adds that pop. I added a 1/4" piece of black between the stamping and the embossed section.
And, of course, you have to add a little something to the inside and envelope.

Several stamps were used to include the Happy Days Cardmaking Workshop Your Way stamp set and the Through the Year (S1711) Stamp of the Month

Enjoy, and I would love for you to comment!
