Color My Heart Challenge Design Space Friday

It is time for another Design Space Friday project. And a perfect project for the Color My Heart Color Dare! It is all about the Poppy!!

My project is all about the color Poppy and an awesome technique I saw on a recent Jennifer McGuire video.

She used dies to create a see-through card, what a novel idea! And the Close To My Heart Artfully Sent Cricut collection is all about cards, insert evil laugh, off to the laboratory (DesignSpace) to see what I can create!

And here is the finished project outside

And inside

And below is the video on how I created this card and maybe another!

  1. Shirley this card is diabolically clever! I LOVE it and you've inspired me to make one, too!

  2. Always look forward to your next original piece...very clever card leaving off the back panel. I've got to take a look at cricut to see what other backgrounds there are and try this myself.

  3. what a great idea for a card, very unique! thank you for sharing.

  4. You did it again, Shirley! Love that you gave the CTMH treatment to one of Jennifer’s techniques! Your projects and videos continue to inspire me.

Calypso and the Split Panel Card

One of my Rockin' heART team members, Darlene Smyly, taught us how to create a Split Panel card at a recent class. It was so much fun!!

Here is a 4 1/4" x 11" top folding White Daisy card. Fold the card from the top in half at 5 1/2", you can score first before you fold.

Place the fold line on the 2" mark on your trimmer and cut. This will leave you with the 2" x 4 1/4" panel for the top of the split panel.

Take the leftover piece, 3 1/2" x 4 1/4", and cut 2" from the 3 1/2" side.  This will leave you with a 2" x 4 1/4" for the  bottom panel.

The remaining 1 1/2" x 4 1/4" piece may be used for the sentiment piece which will attach the top and bottom panels, which is what I did. I stamped one of the flamingos from the Tickled Pink (C1651) stamp set

I cut a Black cardstock mat for it at 4 1/2" x 1 3/4".

To dress up the card, I cut panels from Calypso (X7210B) pattern paper, my rule of thumb is to cut t…
